Which card is best for a sales SPIF?
Digital cards are popular for contests because they deliver the moment a goal is hit. Custom Visa incentive cards work well when you want a branded, physical reward.
Fuel card vs mileage reimbursement vs allowance?
A prepaid fuel card sets the budget up front and removes expense reports. Mileage reimbursement is paid after the fact based on miles driven. A prepaid allowance gives drivers a set amount to use as needed. Many fleets choose prepaid cards for the upfront budget control.
Open-loop or a card for our own stores?
Both work. Choose an open-loop Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card when you want customers to spend anywhere, or a merchant card when you want to keep spend within your stores. A specialist can help you decide.
Can a one-time card be reloaded later?
No. If you can add value again, choose a reloadable card from the start.
Are Pre-Paid USA Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX cards open-loop?
Yes. They are accepted wherever their networks are accepted in the U.S.
Can a branded prepaid card be used anywhere?
It can be used anywhere its network is accepted in the U.S.
Does PrePaid USA offer both physical and digital cards?
Yes. You can order custom branded physical cards for in-hand gifting or digital cards delivered by email or text for online use, from the same provider.
Which card networks are available?
PrePaid USA offers open-loop prepaid Visa and American Express cards, spendable anywhere the network is accepted in the United States.
What is a prepaid card?
A prepaid card is a payment card loaded with a fixed amount of funds. It can be branded by a major network (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX) for use anywhere those cards are accepted, or branded by a specific merchant for use only at that retailer. Companies use them for employee rewards, customer incentives, and partner programs.
What is the difference between Visa and Mastercard prepaid cards?
Visa and Mastercard cards work at the same merchants in the U.S. and have nearly identical acceptance worldwide. The biggest practical differences for incentive programs are activation paths (Visa cards activate online; Mastercard cards activate by phone) and brand preference among recipients.
Should I send physical or digital prepaid cards?
Digital cards arrive instantly by email or SMS and have the lowest fulfillment cost; they suit time-sensitive, high-volume programs (surveys, instant rewards). Physical cards feel more like a gift, are easier to redistribute through team leads, and remain the default for employee recognition and holiday programs.
What is the difference between open-loop and closed-loop prepaid cards?
Open-loop cards are branded by a payment network (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX) and accepted anywhere that network is accepted. Closed-loop cards are branded by a specific merchant and only spendable at that retailer. Open-loop maximizes recipient flexibility; closed-loop is typically lower cost per dollar of value and steers spending to a specific brand.
How do digital prepaid cards work?
Digital prepaid cards are sent to the recipient by email or SMS with a unique card number, expiration, and CVV. They can be added to a digital wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay) or used directly online. Most are also accepted in stores via the digital wallet.
Can I order prepaid fuel cards for my fleet?
Yes. Prepaid fuel cards work at most fuel retailers nationwide and are popular for fleet, field service, and employee mileage programs. Order in bulk; we handle fulfillment.
